The American Cancer Society estimates that there are almost 100,000 new cases of colon cancer every year. But, the chances of dying from colorectal cancer has been decreasing over the years due to regular screenings. Early detection is key to curing this disease, which is why colonoscopies are vital to good health.
A colonoscopy is a procedure in which a physician examines the entire rectum and colon in order to look for any abnormalities, including polyps, which could be pre-cancerous and lead to colorectal cancer.
