Planning or expecting a baby? Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital “delivers” comprehensive care for your desired birth experience.

Having a baby is a life-changing event, a personal and unique experience for the expecting parent.

“We believe that every pregnancy, labor and delivery deserves personal attention throughout your entire journey,” says Jessica Nazzaro, DO , an obstetrician and gynecologist at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital. “Our caregivers work closely with you – during pregnancy and delivery - to safely bring your baby into the world with the best experience possible.”

Expert Ob/Gyn care in the Tuscarawas Valley

When choosing your provider, it’s reassuring to know that our team includes board-certified obstetrician/gynecologists and advanced practice nurses, as well anesthesiologists who are available 24/7.

“I want people to know they can stay local for obstetrics and gynecology care,” says Dr. Nazzaro.

Once you choose your provider, it’s important to begin prenatal care early, with your first visit at around eight weeks into your pregnancy, and monthly prenatal visits until the end of your second trimester, around 28 weeks.

“Regular prenatal visits are essential to help you and your baby stay well, to manage any conditions or complications that may surface, and to discuss any questions or concerns you may have along the way,” says Marcel Nwizu, MD, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Union Hospital.

As your due date approaches, you will have more frequent visits so we can closely monitor the health of you and your baby. If you haven’t already done so, this is a good time to talk with your provider about labor and delivery.

You may want to ask:
  • If your provider is in a group practice, who will deliver your baby?
  • How do the policies of your preferred hospital or birthing facility fit your needs? Do they offer kangaroo care? Is breastfeeding and lactation support available?
  • What are some signs of labor and when is it time to go to the hospital or birthing facility?
You may also want to talk through your preferences for your labor and delivery experience. “It’s important to discuss options, recognizing that every birth is different, and the health and safety of the mother and baby is the priority,” explains Dr. Nwizu.

Review your birth preferences with your provider ahead of time to make sure that they are feasible.
